RussellMUCK was formed when ["Akili"], desiring to work on ["MUF"] programming with greater premissions than he possessed on the ["TLKMuck"] server he had an account on, downloaded and started up a copy of ["NeonMUCK"].

Originally called ["Akili"]'s MUCK, the growing number of users (primarily ["Calin"] and ["Paw"], although others agreed) preferred ["Russell"]MUCK, and he fell to peer pressure.

It could also be said that ["Russell"]MUCK was the impetus behind the creation of SplitReflection, and the primary reason how all of its users have kept in touch, despite not living in the same physical location. In other words, it's all ["Akili"]'s fault.
